How Do I Find a Good Hypnotherapist Near Me?

By Shahin Gurbanov, certified hypnotherapist

Hypnotherapy London

Start where people already talk about their experience, then shortlist two or three hypnotherapists and speak to each of them before you decide. If you live in London you can look for someone local, but many hypnotherapists, including me, also work by video, so the best match is not always the nearest one.

Where to look

  1. Google Maps and Google reviews. Search for a hypnotherapist near you, then read the reviews rather than only the star rating. Look for patients who describe what they came for and what changed.
  2. Recommendations. Ask friends or family whether anyone has had a good experience.
  3. Directory websites. Therapist directories show training and prices side by side, which helps you compare, but a listing is only a starting point.
  4. The therapist's own website. A good website explains who they help, what a session involves, what it costs and who it is not for.

How to read reviews

A long list of five-star reviews is encouraging, but detail matters more. Specific reviews written over time are more convincing than a burst of short, similar ones. My own practice is rated 5.0 from over 200 Google reviews, and I would encourage you to read them and judge for yourself.

What to check before you book

  1. Training. Ask what they studied and how many hours it took. I am a certified hypnotherapist with 500 hours of training.
  2. Health questions. A responsible therapist asks about your health and history before the first session.
  3. Honesty. Be wary of anyone who promises a cure or a guaranteed result.
  4. Clear fees. The price, the session length and the cancellation rules should be explained before you pay.
  5. Who they do not treat. An honest therapist has a clear answer.

Why a free consultation helps

You can learn a lot in a short conversation: whether the therapist listens, whether they explain things clearly and whether you feel at ease. That feeling matters, because hypnotherapy works best when you trust the person guiding you. With me, the first step is a free consultation, usually by video, and you decide afterwards whether to go ahead.

Does near me really matter?

Less than it used to. Most of my sessions are by video, so you can take part from wherever you feel comfortable. If you prefer to meet in person, I see patients at 165 Borough High Street, London.

If you would like to see whether we are a good match, you can arrange a free consultation from the home page and ask me anything you like.

I am Shahin Gurbanov, and I hope this helps you choose with confidence.
